First week over…..

County Galway, Irland
We woke this morning to blue skies. Knowing that our next stop had to be fabulous according to what we saw online.
We said goodbye to our B&B owners. It was like leaving friends. Their recommendations were great. We listened to Irelands best fiddler Sean Magee last night. The food was also spectacular. I can’t find enough superlatives to descibe our first week.
We drove to Sligo, past Ben Bulben into Yeats County. There I could impress with the little knowledge I had obtained on who William Butler Yeats was ( won the Nobel Prize in 1923). We stopped at the Glencar Waterfalls, before we had to drive almost another 2 hours to our destination.
At one point Eric felt sick in the backseat, probably due to the ups and downs and the twist and turns. So we had a stop in the middle of no where. Thankfully I had bought some fast working travel sickness pills in Donegal, so he was feeling fine quite soon. ( Have to admit I had take a tablet earlier too as the dips and dives are a bit strenous, especially if the driver likes to pretend he is a Formula 1 driver)
We were finally getting closed to Letterfrack our next destination. Just 5 minutes before reaching it we passed by Kylemore Abbey. The first glimpse was beautiful.
Then we saw it. Situated up on a hill overlooking a lake. Rosleague Manor.
Wow! I wouldn’t mind spending several nights here. We have a sitting room in our room, downstairs a bar and more sitting rooms.
This is my idea of a vacation.
We unloaded our luggage and left for Kylemore Abbey. Hard to believe that people actually lived there. Now it is owned by Benedict Nuns. Not much open to the public though, so I was a bit disappointed. The gardens are beautiful. Wish I had a gardner that could make my garden look like that.
So we’re off to the bar. More on Connemara tomorrow!
