Castles and Blue Skies

Before I forget:
1. This blog replaces postcards
2. I am convinced all Irish can sing
3. The hairfashion here is called windswept
We started off later than usual. Hey we’re on vacation! We had breakfast at 9:00 am. Eric had french toast with maple syrup and we had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon.
We then started off to visit Donegal Castle. Quite cute and not what you might think of when the word castle is used.
While figuring out what to do next we heard a car advertising the waterbus tour. So we did that and were rewarded with seals lying on the grassy banks. The way back the Tour Guide took to the keyboard and had us all singing: My Bonny lies over the Ocean, The Wheels on the Bus, Old Mc Donald, Humpty Dumpty. It was great! He then handed the microphone over to an 84 year old passenger who had us singing: He’s got the whole World in His Hands and a few more. Fantastic! I continued with childhood memories because for lunch I had at Pier 1 pork with applesauce.
We then drove to St. Johns Point, which gave us an excellent view of the bay.
Our final stop was in Adara. I planned on coming back with a sweater from Ireland this year and Adara is a Tweed and Wool town. We did find and buy something, but not what I was looking for. So the search goes on.
Tomorrow is another day in County Donegal, Slieve League is planned.
All in all it was a relaxed day, except for the few roads that our Pixel took us on. Karstens comment: „In Germany these are hiking trails“ the sat nav shows the speed limit to be 80 km/h. But in most parts you can’t go faster than 30 km/h. So I have gone back to reading maps!
