SUP

Cape Coral, FL

Last night we decided that today was going to be a beach day.
We also decided to do SUP! Stand Up Paddling.
Our favorite beach Lovers Key offers it so we decided to do it there. They offer canoeing, kayaking and other watersports. Since we went canoeing there two years ago, we went canoeing and enjoyed it.When we arrived at the park there was a sign posting the activities and the animals one could see, big problem. Alligators were also listed. Eric was shaking in his shoes.
We went to the rental station, inquired about SUP and how it is for first-timers. Eric asked about the alligators. The answer was: They’re so lazy they won’t move and in 30 years they haven’t attacked a tourist.
OK.
We put the boards to water and quite quickly all got the hang of it. Just a few minutes later we were surrounded by a manatee family. We saw sooooo many of them. Even further up the estaury we saw some more. They were rolling and lolling in the water, seemingly hugging and kissing each other and gliding under our boards just having a good time. One even rocked Karstens board. It was so fantastic! An experience that is not just simply put into words.
Afterwards we spent some time at the beach, sunned, swam and went shelling. Since we were getting tired we headed home where our American dinner consisted of steaks, baked potatoes and corn.
An unbelievable fantastic day!
