Off to Northern Ireland

After a wonderful Irish breakfast (without the black and white pudding), we headed off to Belfast. We took the „scenic“ route.
First we drove through Carlingford up to Newry. I was expecting something like „Welcome to Northern Ireland“. But nothing. Driving over the border was completely unspectacular. The licence plates and the hundreds of Union Jacks were the dead giveaway.
We continued on to Kilkeel, from there we headed on to the Silent Valley. Here we took a 3km walk to the water resevoir and back. Along the way we found a lot of blackberries and they were yummy.
Feeling a bit tired, we decided to head straight for Belfast.
Both sat navs, ours and the one from the car had two different routes planned. First they agreed, but then we decided to follow the route our car was giving us. Two happy males, one unhappy female. Narrow, very narrow winding roads that also went up and down. At some point I was surprised that these were called roads. Most of them even had names!
At some point the decision was made to follow our Pixel.
In Belfast both sat navs agreed again and led us directly to: a broken down church. Huh??!! So around the corner and around the next. Parked the car and pondered on what to do. I looked up and what did my weary eyes see? Our hotel on the other side of the road.
We managed to cross the road, check in, take a nap and then set off to Titanic Belfast.
That was also very interesting. My problem was that we hadn’t eaten since breakfast and I was getting more and more exhausted. So after the museum we headed back to the hotel, had a light dinner and now it’s time to turn in.
Signing off for the night!
