Escape to Crianlarich

After spending a night in a damp, dank and smelly basement our first decision was to ask for a different room. But when we went upstairs to have breakfast we were shocked again. We were alone with another guest, locked in with no breakfast. Honestly. The front door was locked. The other guest was also in a slight panic as we also didn’t know where the key was. It took awhile but I finally found it. We decided to head for our day trip .Mobile-wise we were in a dead zone. So as soon as we finally had a connection we called our travel agent and informed them. It looks like this will be a bigger problem to solve and we hope this won’t follow us through the rest of our days.

We decided to make the most of our day and traveled to Puck’s Glen which was an excellent choice and idea. The whole walk was not possible to to severe weather the past few days. A lot of rainfall which has led to landslides and flooding. But the walk as it was available was breathtaking. The masses of water tumbling down were impressive. The forest covered with ferns and moss. Words cannot describe how impressive it was. Despite the fact we also had our first walk in the rain. At one point we even put on our complete rain gear. Goes to show how impressed we were that I nearly forgot the rain.

We were extremely lucky too. First we were able to book a room at the Best Western in Crianlarich. When we arrived they told us that 15 other people had called requesting a room. Due to the weather conditions people have not been able to access their destinations. The next point was that at Puck’s Glen, Karsten found a 10£ note. Our hotel room is beautiful with a splendid view. After checking in we took a short trip also to the Falloch Falls. Also quite stunning.

Tomorrow we’re off to Fort William.
