Cork, Ireland

The original plan was once again different than what we actually did. The original plan was getting up early and heading for Cork to our hotel, then going to the Fota Park. Well, sometime during the night we were awake listening to the wind howl. I found it quite calming just to hear the wind. At home our house creaks but here it was just the wind. It didn’t let up when out alarm went off, so we were in no hurry to leave as early as planned. It was also raining. We had our breakfast, cleared the fridge and got rid of our garbage. It was 9:30 when we drove down to the main house to return the key and pay for our gas and electricity. We finally started off for Cork, with Fota still in mind, but it rained the whole way up and didn’t stop. We were lucky when we checked into the Travelodge that the room was already free. Extremely simple, nothing special. Karsten and Eric dragged the suitcases up the stairs as there is no elevator. We decided to take a nap before heading downtown. Since it was drizzling the whole time we weren’t really into sightseeing or driving around anymore. We did visit the English Market, which we had visited 4 years ago. I just love the sights and the smells of food markets. When it was late afternoon we wanted some seafood for our final dinner. Master Google came to help and we had our farewell dinner at Quinlins Seafood Bar, which was quite good and yummy. The three of us had sizzling prawns in garlic and chili with fresh sourdough bread. Now we’re back at the hotel and letting the evening pass by. Tomorrow it’s back to Germany.
