Ev’ry time we say goodbye……

Waterville, Ireland

We had different plans for today, but due to the change in weather we had a change in plans. So first change was, getting off to a slow start. One thing when renting a house is getting a good average of the food you buy and will eat. So today we ate the last bacon and all the bread. Leftover will be one onion and some spring onions, salad dressing, croutons and carrots. The tea , cocoa and muesli bars are coming back with us. The idea that we have now is to come to Ireland next time in our own car. Pack it to the brim. Today in Sneem Karsten and Eric bought themselves jackets and I found a scarf. But before we reached Sneem we went geocaching again. This time we got wet, not to the skin, but our jackets were dripping. But we got 3 kilometers of walking distance. We sort underestimated the distance between Sneem and Killarney, but we were still on time to book a tour of Ross Castle. We were there 4 years ago to find at they had just closed. So this time we just had to make it. On the way we drove past the Pancake House and Imjust mentioned that I had read that the pancakes are fantastic. Karsten wanted to turn around and go back, but I wanted a „castle“. If we continue on visiting these ancient tower houses and castles, we can „sing for our supper“ or maybe have free entrance. We are slowly becoming pretty firm in our knowledge when it comes to medieval defense methods. Should times get worse, we will know how to protect ourselves. It was late when we left Ross Tower with me lamenting on the things that I wanted to do and hadn’t done. Innisfallen Island or more of Killarney National Park. I still haven’t seen a deer. We then decided to head for home, but not before I planned a stop at the Aran Sweater Market. I walked out with a knit jacket and a brooch for my ruana wraps. As Eric actually felt hungry, we decided to have dinner in Killarney. We ate at Tatler Jack, Eric had once again lasagna, Karsten a beef burger and I had bangers and mash ( go check that out yourself). Driving is no problem whatsoever. At least for Karsten, I am quite confident that Karsten feels very comfortable behind the steering wheel. In the past we needed longer than what the sat-nav said. The problem being that when it said 100 km/h you couldn’t drive at that speed. Not anymore. We were home 5 minutes earlier than what the sat-nav figured out. The grande finale: In order to finish off the leftovers, the prude and the stuffy please ignor, we finished off one Guinness, one Smithswicks, one glass of Bordeaux per adult, Pringles, Eric ate the ice cream (Chocolate Fudge Brownie) and now we’re rolling towards our beds.
